My acid project is nothing but cliche's. :)

But here's one for the topic:

"analogue synths are warmer/better/make the owner appear more intelligent/ than digital synths"
riiiiiight.... :D

i hate the club 4 step-add patterns.. 4 times the bass loop, then add the claps let it last for 4 loops and add the melody And so on. Like that..

what about every style beeing a cliche? as sson you focus on something like a genre, you restrict yourself to their limitations. thus constraining yourself to the boundarys of a style. in other words, you fall back to an old style, and not creating anything else, or new. i think that allready is a cliche!

and what about the old TR drum machines? are they not a cliche? we''ve heard them so much, i begin to wonder there are no good new drumsynths beeing build! over and over again we keep hearing the same snare, same hihat, and on and on....

i think it's time for new percussion to evolve! get rid of the öldskool'sounds...! :))

You are right. House music does not NEED a TR909.
You don't NEED a machinedrum.

On the other hand, don't forget that 'originality' is not important. It hardly exists.
Humans always build on what they've seen and heard, which makes it relevant to their fellow-men.

Otherwise your music becomes so eclectic that no-one will be able to understand and appreciate it, let alone like it!

that would not be the only reason to create "new" music! what about you're personal joy, fun, excitement? i rather make something (or at least try) completly different. instead of thinking about what people like. i think it's absolutly ridiculous to tweak a sound with the thought in your head that it has to be a "understandable' sound. why no tweak till nobody any longer understands? it could be the start of a new genre....

If you are not enjoying making your own music, why do you make it anyway?

I LOVE TO MAKE MUSIC MORE THAN TALK ABOUT IT

:D
that's already another cliche
hum
m9ike=>how do you think this ?
i enjoy music and sounds more than my life so what you talk about?

just saying that what ever you make fucked up or not could be liked by the general mass at a certain time.
so just make any kind of sound instead of restricting yourself to certain styles or thema s
everything i made wasn,t dilleberate it was just there it all comes out of nowhere
and just fits into place if its in a style its a style i dont care really
i just play and press record and see what ever melody i can create that fits my needs.
i want my music to be free in anyway
HOW ABOUT YOU?
:)

The word cliche itself is somewhere in my top 3 anyway.
About new music: Don't forget that people who busy themselves with soundmaking often make a giant leap from the average listening crowd. A good artist can close this gap again by bringing change in small doses.
You got to have some feeling of conformity anyway otherwise you're sending bleeps into the universe and the chances for a succesfull transmission are not getting better.
Maybe the stranger the music the better this feeling must be ?
