Dear non-Belgian electrobel user,

As some may have noted with visiting the Belgian Electrobel portal, electrobel.be is hosting a new concept in the 'Dark contest' idea.

Initially started by user Sapaj with his girlfriend's painting being the main price, we have been able to expand this idea further: From the top 5 users that will be voted through visitors (voting starts Monday), one artist, which will be chosen by a professional jury, will also receive a chance to perform at the Je m'en fish & Electrobel night on Saturday the 7th of april 2007, Tour & Taxis Music room, during the Brussels International festival of fantastic film. For those of you not familiar with the tour & taxis site, it is one of Belgium's largest locations, check out their info here:
http://www.tourtaxis.com/

Although it is our hope to push this concept to the other platforms in the year(s) to come if at all possible, we would already like to give a chance to our friends from other portals to come and meet, discuss, and have fun. Therefore, I am offering 10 free tickets to the users of each portal outside of Belgium. Discuss carpooling etc. and the first ones that want some will get them. I can possibly also help out with cheaper hotel accomodation for those that would want so; But don't worry because we continue until 6h or 7h in the morning.

Not only will there be this presentation of the artist of the dark contest, we will also have:

-The Neon Judgement [live: 25 years]: Pioneers of the EBM genre together with front 242
http://www.theneonjudgement.com

-Luc Van Acker presents Revco (Revolting cocks): Initially started with Al Jourgensen (Ministry) and Richard 23 (Front 242) as a studio project, Revolting cocks would become known live for their, well, revolting shows. Luc Van Acker will present his own soundsystem version with a new line-up due to popular demand after a sold-out ministry tour through the USA in 2006.
http://www.myspace.com/revcosoundsystem

-Foochow , Je m'en fish artist presenting his new CD, which will be digitally distributed through Alfa Matrix label.
http://www.myspace.com/foochow

-ELECTROBEL AFTERPARTY: Featuring Hosm0z, Heiser, and Distreality: Check them out on electrobel.be

Visuals by Jim Boquet from Lille, France (Alienor, Traumabikini, ...) and Zark (Electrobel)

Not convinced yet?

Check out this live video of The neon judgement at Machina festival, Brasil last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1ACeSd30Oc

And here's a little revo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpC_3j562A0

The concerts and afterparty will take place on a 17.000W Meyer soundsystem with a high quality lightshow. The visual presentation will be on a 7m on 4m screen.

At the same time will take place the 20th international body painting contest and the whole night there will be screenings of alternative films on a 16m on 6.5m screen, the largest in Belgium!

(Other days also include Buscemi, Troissoeur featuring D. Bressanutti from front 242, and much more, and a few VERY nice visitors in the world of fantastic film will be announced shortly. Keep checking http://www.bifff.org )

Jup...count me in. :D I'm convinced. But what is the best way to stay there. Something like a youth hostel or something like that. It will be the first time that I am in Brussel.

I won't be able to arrange special rooms for electrobel visitors in the hotel we have in center of Brussels, but I can normally get percentages off in other hotels.

I let users like psychostorms here stay in a rather nice hotel I found, which is not in the center so you need to drive a bit after the party, but I can get rather cheap. IF you want to do a youth hostel that's even cheaper of course. But, maybe someone wants to carpool you?

I'll travel by train when I come. I think something in the center would by the best. Carpool would even by better if someone wants to. Anyway I am sure that I come to Brussel.

Well, like I say, the hotel I work with I can get you a 3 person room in a real hotel, with breakfast and an arty interior, for less than 30 euro. The youth hostels in the center I usually don't work with so you'll pay about as much for less quality.

I can also let one or two people crash at my place. And you can take the train back in the morning too. It's all options.

It would be cool to be able to run the same kind of contest in the Netherlands, which is why I think it'd be a nice evening to meet everyone of different portals.

definitely. i think we need some more user 'crtitcal mass' to get events like parties and big competitions going but 'internal' ebel contests are always a possibility.

30 euro's isn't much money for a room with breakfast. I think it's gonna take a 4 of at the most 5 hours to travel with public transport for me. So I'll like to stay in Brussel. I think that I want to come on friday so that I can check brussel a little bit. Only from this sunday untill 19th march. I can not reply on new posts. Because I think that I have no internet connection in the neighbourhood. I will try to reply as soon possible.

Heh, I really doubt that; I need to be there for the soundcheck of the bands on Sunday, I work for the whole 13 days music room.

You could make it a weekend too, Friday is interesting too with the line-up.

Here is the flyer:

Do keep in mind: It's a 17.640W soundsystem (almost half of them subwoofers) and a heavy lightshow, a weekend might kill you :)

Oh, and there's breakfast at 07h. Normally only for the film visitors. Don't know yet. Press conference Thursday, I'll post the updates.

Hey, and our DVD is ready; The pre-release version, anyway. ATM it has Sutrastore, Eega X, Rollznoyce, Ansatz der Maschine and Neon Electronics video's
